Eulogy from David Kantor
Dick's Cousin

One of my fondest memories of Dick was visiting him at Harvard when he was a college student. Dick not only put up my brothers and me in his dorm room, but also showed us all around the campus, introduced us to his friends, and took us to a Harvard football game. I think very few people would have shown their eight year old cousin such hospitality, but Dick was a great host. He even let me use his pillow when I complained about the one he gave me initially.

Another fond memory is Dick and Colette's wedding, in the backyard of 172 Northampton Drive. It was a joyous occasion, and so many family members were there to celebrate, many of whom are now of blessed memory. I was disappointed, however, that my brothers got to hold the chuppah and I didn't - but I got over that in a few years.

One thing I always found remarkable about Dick was that he was very proud about not watching television. When I was younger, I thought this practice to be completely without merit - "How could anyone do without TV?" I thought. In recent years, as I've seen my children become glued to not only the TV, but also to the computer and to video games, I had come to admire Dick for spending his time doing things, instead of sitting in front of a tube. I intend to follow his example more in the coming years, although not completely.

A few days ago, I found Dick's resume posted on the web site for his cardiology practice. And I was absolutely amazed at all he had accomplished in his relatively short time on earth, it is just incredible. But I think the greatest accomplishments in his life were being a devoted, loving husband and father, and helping Colette raise two wonderful children. Those are examples that I intend to follow completely.
